i just recently adopted some goldfish...i have this one now that looks like it has a pink worm undernieth his belly? hes swimming fine and eating. but im worried it could be something serious or worse be passed to the other little ones in there?! could some one help with this?

well i cant get a picture of it... but hes swimmin fine he is very small i got him from petsmart. he did not have it til i came home alittle bit ago...its just looks like a pink worm coming out of him like where they go the bathroom? you can see it up inside him too...

ok im going to go back up and check on him and see if its gone or what...

I just thought that I might share some info about parasites in the shape of worms. There is a kind that has a rather pink hue tot it, and can attach to the lower belly of the fish, but you can easily see that it's a worm because of the texture on the worm's skin. Usually worms have a different color, some of them can be pretty close to black, but it's always easy to see the difference between these worms and a string of poo. Besides, if the worm is there for long without being dealt with, it might cause reddenings on the fish's skin where it's been attached as most parasites are eating directly from the fish's blood or muscles.

You could also try borrowing some books about fish and fish health from the library to see pictures of this kind of parasites better (:
