So, first time I was there I asked about the Anubias, because it looked so pretty and strong, and he said that it's very suitable for goldfish since it has such thick leaves. And it can grow rather big, and does so fast. Just after a couple of weeks it was twice as big as when I bought it!
The second time I was looking for some smaller plants, and I noticed a pretty row of small leaves in the bottom of the goldfish tank, just for safety I asked what they were, and he told me that these are related to the bigger Anubias but that these little ones, instead of growing up, they grow out towards the sides to make a cute little carpet of it (: They grow about 4 inches high. The awesome thing is that it looks so small, but these leaves are incredibly strong! While I was cleaning the gravel a few rocks fell onto them and they didn't even bend! And my goldfish enjoy hiding in them and nibbling the algae on the leaves (:
Another really good plant I've had for years now is called Java Fern, which has a rather bitter taste and pretty rough leaves, so the goldfish won't eat them. Although when the plants are small, the fish might dig them out of the substrate before the roots have developed well. This one is also resistant to salt, so if you want to have live plants in a quarantine tank (will be nice for the fish!) this is perfect for the task

But it grows quickly!
We also had some elodea at home, but since the goldfish there is so big, he simply ate them to the very base of the plant and then naked sticks were floating around xD So even if quick growing plants sometimes are suggested for goldfish tanks, the fish WILL catch up with the growth rate sometime...
I'll be going back to that shop to get some more plants for the bigger tank soon, so I'll probably have more info by then!
