Yes they work very well with fresh water tanks. Back when I had my breeding room the XL-model got a good work out. I had a D1 model also years before that and it done a fine job on display and show tanks. They will help bring algae, ick, and cloudy water under control in a few hours. So far as the lights I am selling the outfit you see on the tank. My son in law is having me three rings of LED lights made up for the 180gal tank. I'll take pictures and post when I get them. Cheers, Charlie...

Well he brought the LED's over for a test run and took them back to modifiy the housing a little. My grand daughter forgot my camara over at her other grand parents house so I have no pitures... Yes pufferman I could get a fan but I have scraped that idea as I just don't like them big heavy lights. Skwishee my tank is in a dark part of the room and will need a little help from lights to see the fish. I am using a pole lamp right now just to see them...

Finally got my camara back from the Grand Daughter Here's a couple of pictures with the two LED's test strip on each end. He's making another for the middle and I can plug them in any way I want them after he's done. [image] [image] This gives you some idea of what I have here Skwishee .. It's not going to be the best looking but I do hope to have a good home for all the mutts. Me and the wife enjoy them and that's all that counts..

Awww they have so much space I look forward to seeing how they grow! They'll be chunky and round before you know it I like the layout of your tank too, it's nice and simple Lots of space for swimming! Have they got any names yet?

No names for any one fish and we call them the "Mutts" as they all came from the local fish shop. That's about equal to the local pound for dogs. There's eight total in there and there will be no more added. I also have a dozen Panda Cats in there just because I like them also. Both tanks are staying between 72 & 74 degrees so I see no need of heaters or chillers. I'll be real happy when we get the LED's on the big tank. I just saw them real good for the first time the other day. After watching them real close for awhile I think that 4 are in great shape, 1 in good shape, and 3 in fair shape. They all eat well so maybe the others will catch up in due time. Cheers, Charlie...
