tank filter

my filter is making alot of bubbles and it is leaking into the water which I believe is making the water cloudy. I have only a 1 Gal tank and already one of the fish has died. My question is, is the bubbling normal or is there something wrong? How do I fix it?

First of all a 1 gallon tank is not a very good set up for goldfish let alone even one!....I'm assuming that is what you have. Is there an air line to the filter? I'm not sure what you mean by leaking? Leaking what? air? If it is leaking air then it is not functioning properly and so toxins will build up very quickly and therefore you will lose fish. First check the air line and make sure it did not come loose. If the airline is tight then it might be a mechanical problem and should be replaced and quickly if you don't want to lose any more fish!

the bubbles are coming over the top of the filter and going into the tank. we are new to the fish world so when we bought the fish we bought what they told us would be alright. I have had friends that had fish and I never saw their tank bubbling at the filter. does your filter bubble? if not what can do to fix the problem?

Kenny,
What brand of filter is it? If it is new I would call the store where you bought it from and ask them, or take it back and tell them what it is doing.

thank you for comments. we figured it out. we didn't treat or condition the water. we were also overfeeding. which was polluting the water. we took the fish out and started over and now it is just fine. the water is no longer foaming over

Hi Kenny,
Glad you figured it out! Hopefully it will continue to run properly now.
When you have a very small tank and small filter, it will get clogged up much easier than a larger one.
Limit feeding to no more than 2X's a day and only what they can eat in 3 mins.
