I have recently bought a black moor and fantail goldfish. If it wasn't for coming on here i wouldn't have known our tank is too small for them. My question is would a 90 litre tank be big enough for my 2 fish and would i have to empty it every week/month to clean it properly .

Im a beginner so im just finding my fins with goldfish keeping

Earlier I kept two fantails in a 100 liter tank, that would be ideal for them since there would technically be 20 liters of extra space for them, and a 100 liter tank is pretty small still and easy to maintain It's also one of the more standard sizes so it would be easier to find. How big is the current tank by the way?

Im not sure how big my current one is but its small. Im looking for a new one at the moment so it will only be a temporary tank. Thanks for the links i had a look at them earlier but i was a bit confused. Ive just had a look again and they make better sense on a second read.

That would be a great size for just these two fish, they will be very happy in there. Resist the urge to get more fish though! Lol.

Java ferns and Anubis are easy and the fish won't eat them, they do well in low light. I also have large bunches of elodea but the fish eat it and it kind of makes a mess and takes a long time to root.

I'm so glad you were so quick to get a new tank! Most people spend awhile in denial before listening to forum members. Good luck with your babies. Check out the feeding tips too, a lot of newbies make the mistake of feeding just pellets or flakes with no variety.

Mostly veg but I do give fruit as a very rare treat. The more variety in their diet the healthier they will be. I really get into mine's diets, it's really fun (in my opinion).

You could also try adding some cryptocorynes to your tank, they grow really tall so they'd make good background plants Anubias come in different sizes by the way, and Anubias Nana (dwarf anubias) or Anubias Barterii (Barter's anubias) are both pretty suitable for those smaller tanks

Aside from the veggies you could try getting some blood worms or shrimp for the goldfish Protein is especially important for small goldfish And just in case, while you feed them with flakes, you shouldn't drop them onto the surface but rather take a grip around a pinch and lower it below the water line, that way they won't swallow so much air and the flakes will be easier for them eat. Not to mention that they'll have a lot of fun chasing the drifting flakes around the tank

We're just about to give them some cooked (but cooled) Broccoli. Im hoping to get some plants when our tank comes and im holping to pick up some bloodworms tomorrow.

Edit - They didn't seem to like the broccoli. Im going to get some frozen carrots and peas for them. I was wondering how everyone makes orange pulp. Is it just mashed orange?

Fruit can mess with the water quality (and goldfish aren't really meant to eat fruit in the first place), so feed them that only on the day you'll change the water
