Hello everyone.
I am enjoying my new little Black Moors! THey make me laugh. THey come to the front of the bowl and they look right at me. I sit and watch them twirl and swim backwars and play in the bubble. I love to watch them play.
Do you have this experience with Moors?

I would some day love to have a moor tank when I have the room and money for one

Although from your post I am led to believe you are keeping yours in a bowl?
Are you aware that bowls generally aren't very good for goldfish? May I ask how big are the fish at the moment? Is the fantail with the moors? And what size is your bowl?

There are varying reasons why bowls aren't recommended for fish;
The first reason, is that they are too small for goldfish, the recommended stocking for fancy goldfish -such as the moor- is to have 40 litres per fish, so for your moors and calico fantail, you would be looking at a tank size of around 160 litres. I know this may seem like a lot, I certainly couldn't understand the stocking rules to begin with, but the reason why so much capacity is allowed, is because a) the goldfish in general produce a lot of waste and ammonia, so in too small a space, the concentration is too much, the goldfish will poison itself and die, b) goldfish grow!! The moors in particular have a potential of reaching 20 cm.
Now imagine 4 moors all 20 cm big in that bowl and you can see why the stocking rules are what they are  

Another reason for bowls, is that when they are completely filled to the top, there is very little surface area for gas exchange, so oxygen levels will be lower. The way around this is to fill the bowl half way, but then of course the fish has even less space to swim around.

And lastly bowls don't allow much swimming room, again they are just too small and don't allow space for gravel, plants and driftwood, things that a goldfish would naturally investigate and explore.

I know this can be a lot of information to take on board, but you will want to consider upgrading your fish, to a rectangular aquarium, as it will be much better for them in the long run

Lindie if you're in the UK, there are 'freecycle' groups that you could ask on, or check out gumtree and e-bay, for reasonable deals on tanks, sometimes people sell their entire kits online.

When I say an entire kit, I mean a tank, with a stand (always handy) and quite often they can include;
air stones -these produce bubbles, with provides surface agitation meaning more gas exchange.
filters -very important piece of equipment, as this keeps the water clean and free of ammonia/nitrite once the tank has been cycled.
heaters -not so important for goldfish as they are cold water, but handy to have.
lights -pretty explanatory!
gravel/decorations -again pretty self explanatory!

So you can pick up really good deals!
