I can imagine. Cleaning the tank used to gross me out, but I've become immune to the abhorrence of fish poo now, having done it so many times. But drinking it??? Ugh. Now it's on a whole 'nother level.

Umm I hope you don't do that anymore  That is an incredibly bad idea and you could have gotten very sick!

Also most of the products I use says in big writing "NOT TO BE USED ON FISH INTENDED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION".

One of my teachers had a huge tank with lots of weird cichlids and catfish, her cats were drinking from the tank, and as far as I know, they're just fine (Until one of the huge cichlids bit her tongue, she stopped then) Animal metabolism is a bit different, considering that they can drink sea water without getting nauseous for instance!

Yeah, like toilets!  Nasty habit I'm trying to get mine to stop.   

I was at Walmart the other day, and an older man was there purchasing 3 beautiful goldies. I couldn't suppress my curiosity, and went up to him asking how big his tank was and why he was buying the goldfish. He said his tank was 55 gallons and cycled, but every time he bought some goldfish the next morning they were found dead against the filter. He had lost NINE FISH!  Closer interrogation revealed he had  no idea what water testing was or how to do it. He said he was using a water conditioner, but it wasn't one that removed the ammonia and nitrites found in the water out here. I took over 45 minutes explaining to him about testing water and treating it properly, as well as proper feeding habits and the importance of water parameters.

When he walked away, I felt a small satisfaction in knowing those three fish might stand a better chance at life, but then was crushed under the realization that I couldn't spend all day at the tanks of Walmart preaching to everyone who buys a goldie 

Isn't that the truth Minde! But perhaps that's why I decided to adopt one feeder fish (Wisp) in a tank of hundreds. Just in knowing I was able to make one's life a bit better, even though many were doomed

I heard him saying to the seller that his fish always die....the seller said norhing !!!! ... so I explained about water testing too, but if he'll really do it ?

Nossie, I didn't ask, because he seemed to be in such a hurry just to get away.... I just felt so sick after this, seeing those poor fishies all in one bag and how they were handled, etc...

... yeah... me too... poor little things 

How infuriating! People these days only care about money!  They don't even care that those 11 fish and 10 fantails and comets have lives too (even though they are little ones)! Then they get home, kill 'em all off, go back for more again and again and don't think twice!    sorry but I'm super steamed right now...I think we humans should be more responsible for our little friends...I just wanna adopt every fish on the planet now.

I'd like to go and beat some sense into them so they'll remember why it's unreasonable and cruel with those "DEALS" of theirs.

Commercialized fishkeeping...shoulda seen that coming a long way off...  at least there are SOME people with a bit of knowledge and common sense that are willing to protect these critters. 

Minde: Exactly, not to mention that those were goldfish, so not many people have a 100 gallon tank/pond to keep them in since most people think that "they're so smaaall".
