Keep them!!! I'm sorry but that is what I would do. You have two fish in a ten gallon? It's not ideal but it's not a death sentence either which is what being a feeder would be. I don't understand why they would be sold as feeders though, people want to buy goldfish you should see how many them have near me and they never sell goldfish as feeders!
I have about a medium size comet in a 6 gallon tank and to make it worse it is a hexagonal shaped tank but he he is still surviving and has only gotten fin rot once. Also once he cut his head open but that was in his old tank which was even smaller and he is very fast. But both were easy to treat.
If you stick with us and really keep an eye on water quality I think you can do it for sure I imagine they are only small at the moment and though goldfish grow quicklyl, it's not like they are going to be 20cm long any time soon.
Please don't do it It's your decision in the end but I know that you can upgrade eventually. I'm a poor uni student as every uni student is and I only just got a job yet through extreme saving I'm going to be able to give my goldfish a much bigger tank in a matter o days

KEEP THEM!!!! do not even think about taking them back to the store if you know they are going to die! as andrea said, a small tank is not always a death sentance. you need to keep a eye on the water quality and keep on top of the cleaning etc but if you do that i see no reason why they shouldnt hold on till you managed to get a bigger tank.

if you seriously cant handle them, see if someone you know would like them? maybe for a pond or if they have a tank themselves. please dont give them back to the store if you know they will be feeders.

Yes, Elli already looked for sbdy who has a pond, but it wasn't successful.

Anyway, Elli, keep looking if necessary, but don't give them back.

I say, keep them as long as you can! If you feel like you already have too much to do with your goldfish, don't bother getting the betta! At least not until things are stable with your goldies!

Like I mentioned already, I keep all my fish in two very small tanks for now. But I found an apartment, so I'll be setting up my 83 gallon asap! I've had them since November and none of them have been sick so far So if you only want to, you can do it!!

And like everyone else said, we'll be here for you!

I think I will keep them I'm truly doing my best. And I can do the same for a betta in a one gallon. i'll just upgrade them all ASAP Betta to the ten gallon and goldfish to a bigger tank.

It should decrease with each water change, and gradually "fade" into nitrite. Are you testing for nitrite at the same time as ammonia?
And it can take a little while for the bacteria to catch up since it's a small tank and with two fish. Just be patient

That's a good question Hanna. Supposedly our water here has ammonia in it and my friend was trying to cycle a tank and it just wouldn;t cycle, it took quite some time.

I'm so glad you are keeping your fish I know it will all work out and you won't regret it.

But as long as your fish are okay, and as long as the tank is cycling well and you're using water conditioner when changing the water... I'd say you shouldn't worry

I got it tested at a pet shop originally and all my parameters from my first test were about the same as the pet shop parameters.

And  to me its so weird that my tank looks amazing my plants are thriving and the fish are doing great but the parameters are so high. I'll do another test tonight.

I still have to buy the detoxifier ... I'm so broke and I cant even set up my one gallon yet

Also where is the expiration date? I just bought the kit.

I dont think it ever expires lol ... Its chemicals. Stored right it should last indefinetly
