My sister came over with her much better camera and got some decent pics of some of the fantails.

Hazel- yellow/gold & black
Willow- orange & black
Maple- red & white (Maple is the one with the stubby deformed tail fins)
Blackthorn is the black moor pictured with Ash and Willow
Ash- silver/grey & black pictured with Willow

Both fish are very pretty! I have yet to see a white fantail for sale but I guess I've only been looking at the fish this past year.

Hey like your fish, very nice to see some pics  Smiley ... I got a tip from an aquarium guy the other day for what its worth... he told me that you need to find out the day when they get new stock, (his was  the first of every month) he said all the "pretty fish" are mainly sold within a few days... cheers > Ron

Thanks Ireiden!
Ron- Thats a good tip! I'll keep it in mind if (who am I kidding, when) I add a new one to the mix. And thanks for post the tips on photography, I just found that thread, we are going to try and get some better pics.

Nice fish.  A little blurry with some of the images though but you can still see how beautiful the fish is.  Nice. Smiley

Hey thought I'd show you all the massive color change that Dear Hazel went through. She is the fantail up there ^ that looks yellow and black (chocolate). Here she is now, much fatter and pure red (she is on top)! Also Dear Holly's fins used to have a bit of black but no more. I was sad about it for awhile but now I call them twins. No one but me and my two year old can tell them apart!

Sorry for the poor quality I took this with my phone and without using any of Ron's awesome tips.

Me fantailer? Lol. My sister took all the original pics with a big and fancy camera that I wouldn't know how to turn on. We have been meaning to try again using the photography tips. As for yesterday's pic I think they were just being still, sometimes I have good luck with my phone but usually not.

Oh wow! Thats amazing about the colour change!

Gorgeous fish, what sized tank do you have them in?  It must be pretty big for 9 of them Cheesy (I assume their all together?)
They are such a lovely bunch!

I must say though, your veggie clip is very adorable!! And who knew black gravel could look so sheek!

Skwishee- Thank you for the lovely compliments! They are not all together at the moment- 3 in 50 gallons (actually I think it's like 56 or something weird). Three in 30gal (the red fantails above) and the three babies are in 29 tall. BUT next month I am really hoping to have 120gal set up. Then I will have orandas and fantails in the big tank and moors (plus one deformed fantail) in the 50 gallon!  Grin I am so excited about it! I will definately post pics.

Oh wow that sounds incredible! I'd love to see photos when you have it set up Cheesy

I imagine you'll need some beasty filtration on such a large tank!

I found a filter in an aquarium store that is meant for 300gallons! May be too big but I'm looking into it.   Grin

Wow! Look at them all grown up!! Smiley So beautiful Smiley

That filter you found might just be the perfect size! Besides, it doesn't matter what it's rated for because that's usually calculated on the basis of smaller, tropical fish. So you should rather focus on how much it filters per hour, so for 120 gallon you're aiming for, a filter that deals with 1200gph would be perfect Smiley

Ah thanks Nossie, didn't know that! I thought just double the gallons- 40gal filter for 20gal tank etc...so much to learn!

Indeed, I keep learning new things all the time! (Especially with all the new interested people here on the forum that share their discoveries!!) ...especially about filters, I haven't ever known particularly much about the technical equipment when keeping fish.. Wink
