Golfish with black blotch dying?

Hi. I have had one goldfish for two years and bought another two yesterday. The goldfish that I've had for two years we moved into a new tank yesterday, together with the two I've bought (The tank has been set up for 10 days with no fish in it). I got the water tested at Pets at Home yesterday and it tested fine for ammonia. The smallest goldfish of the 3 has a black blotch on it and some dark areas on its fins. It's also been going on its side at times and looks lethargic. What can I do? I've read advise to do a water change but would this be needed so soon considering the water tested fine?

To be absolutely sure, I'd buy a testkit and test yourself, then act accordingly as black spots indicate ammonia burns.
The best is a master test kit for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

I am not sure if your tank has already cycled after only 10 days.
And how big is your tank?

By the sound of things, after ten days I dont think your tank will have already cycled. Even ten gallon tanks can take a couple weeks. Im gonna suggest do a 10% water change, as during cycling you are supposed to do small water changes. Ammonia can spike without warning, so if it's fine one day, chances are it can spike the next. Was the fish healthy when you bought him?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth to this topic.
Just because your ammonia levels were ok doesn't mean that your nitrites hadn't spiked. High nitrites can cause burns too.
Also, your tank after 1 week, even 2 is most definately not cycled yet and I truly feel your fish are suffering because of it. Get a bacteria booster and add it to your filter. Get a test kit and test for more than just ammonia levels. Test your ph, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. ammonia and nitrite levels will be zero when your tank has cycled. Adding aquarium salt to your tank may help too since it will help relieve stress and increase gill function during this stressful time while your tank is still cycling.

When I got mine a few years ago it was about 47€! D: Contained tests for kh, pH, gh and nitrites. I bought the ammonia and the nitrate tests myself recently c: Besides, I rarely use the kh and gh since I don't have troubles with pH fluctuating, and my fish don't care for gh xD But the thing with them is that they're accurate, and last for long, so it's definitely worth the money! (:
Well, does this fish have any raised scales or swollen areas? Because he might be having some internal infections, I've seen that these two things CAN go hand in hand... Other than that, it could just be water quality issues, and the best thing to do would be to take care of this by testing the water, changing 10% if necessary, and add some salt. Like you already were advised to do

I've got the API Freshwater Mastertestkit, 4 glass tubes, caps and the bottles contain 37 ml of test solution. It did cost about AU$ 65.00
But it is well worth it, lasts for so long.
Please do as advised and perform 10% waterchanges with continuing regular testing.
