Snail eggs!
« on: March 16, 2012, 05:00:29 PM »

My snail has laid eggs! Think I need to change her name! Lol! I was so worried as she was on the lid of the tank and it looked like she had completly dried out! Poor thing!

Hopefully!  Cheesy If I look after them right! I just need to make sure they get in the tank when they hatch! Because they can drown if they are in water whilst they are eggs!

Have you kept them out of water? Apple snail eggs drown if they are in water! The best thing to do is get a bowl put a small amount of water in it, place a sponge in and put the eggs on the sponge, then cover them with cling film with a few holes in! Keep an eye though as they need to go straight into water when they hatch or they die.

Michelle , sounds like you had an infestation of pond/ ramshorn snails...they come in as eggs on live plants

It has taken me a year to get too many. I currently have about 116 apple snails of varying sizes across three tanks.

I have had my pond snails for over a year now and their population is fine, if you've had a population explosion Michelle, perhaps there's a reason, such as too much food being left over after feeding fish.
