What is it please help! (SCARY)

My friend has a goldfish bowl and she filled it up with water. I went to her house to see how it was looking and we noticed a small fish like creature!  Shocked So we asked her mum what it was and she didn't have a clue. We tried to get it out, but it was too quick! Shocked

It was brown and looked slimy, it was quite small, about 1 inch. She has had the tank set up with water in for 3 weeks, in her kitchen. It had a weird shield like shape to it, but it was quite long.  Huh Huh Huh Huh

What is it? What should we do?

       PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Is it dead? I wonder if a silverfish crawled in.

Is she going to put goldfish in the bowl? I hope not because they can't survive in a bowl.

It is alive. I gonna try to put on some better photos on when I get a chance.

It has almost doubled in size though since the other day!!!!!! Shocked

Do some fish do that?!

It's a little bit clearer, not much though.
It is a second hand tank, so do you think there could have been
some eggs in there?! (Sorry i need to get a new camera, the saturation isn't right and it keeps blurring Embarrassed )

Take that out immediately! It looks just like a dead fish, and it'll pollute the water.
Also, remove the goldfish from the bowl. You're killing them slowly and painfully by forcing them in a bowl (They're suffocating and poisoning themselves).
Please buy a proper tank (10 gallons/40liters per goldfish).

I'm sorry to say Nossie that it is alive.  Undecided  Embarrassed We don't want to kill it, because it is quite cute, but she really wants to get her Goldfish. We just want to find out what it is and if it is safe to keep with goldfish.  Smiley Oh yeah when i said Goldfish bowl I basicallly meant a goldfish tank.  Cheesy

You do know 45cm is about half a meter wide  Undecided Sad    I'm not sure how high it is, but I do know it is just over 20 gallons. It is really big. And the area where we havve taken the photos are in the feeding trough to put the food in, so it stays in one place for the goldfish to find. All I know is that it is suitable for 2 Goldfish and a bottom feeder. All I want to know is what the creature is because my friend really wants to go and get her goldfish without killing the creature Sad

Umm, it's 47L, which is ten and a bit gallons. 1 goldfish needs 20 gallons, 2 goldfish need 20 gallons, 3 goldfish need 30 gallons. And that's assuming the tank (or whatever it is) has a filter, consuming 5-10 times the volume per hour.

You can work out the volume of a sphere (I'm presuming your bowl is a whole sphere, so the answer is actually less than 47L) by using this formula.

V=4/3 x pi (3.1415) x r (radius) cubed (radius x radius x radius)

4/3 x 3.1415 x 22.5x22.5x22.5 = 47711.53125cm^3

1cm cubed is equal to 0.001 litres (1 mil)
47711.53125 x 0.001 = 47.71m^3 which is 47.71L.

Anything that's only 45cm wide won't possibly contain 20 gallons. Oh, and a tiny correction, 47L is rather 10 gallons, in other words, not enough for even one goldfish and a bottom feeder.

Nah, one goldfish wouldn't grow big inside something that small :/ A 20 gallon minimum for one goldie, 20 for two, 30 for three etc... someone already posted that somewhere on this thread I think : D

Ok! How can a 1.5m high tank with a radius of 45cm (i know i put down diameter before but i meant radius) be to small for 2 goldfish and a bottom feeder!!!!! I mean it must be over 20 gallons and she is only getting 2 small orandas! All we want to know is what is in the tank???!!! Shocked Shocked Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Huh Huh

jazz: Are you aware that orandas are the biggest fancy goldfish breed of them all? An oranda can end up being 12 inches long. Does that sound good and comfortable in a space that is ROUND and 45cm across? Didn't think so.

Most plecos can grow very, very big as well.

Hello,  Wink Sorry about this whole post. None of it is real Undecided My friend decided to start it because she thought it was funny, I didn't know about this until I went on my hotmail account today!!!  Shocked I was really shocked by what she had written to you. The photos are just two Triop Photos she has edited using photoshop Shocked So the creatures are just a kind of crustaecen called Triops!!!
