What kind of fish is timmy?

I have a 6inch (without fins) goldfish that I've had for about a year and a half. When i got him i got him out of the "small fantail" tank. His appearance has radically changed since then, he's turned completely silver and kinda looks like a softball with fins and a face. He has very large fins and kind of a bumpy forehead and very fat cheeks. He almost has a cartoon face, he's very cute! I was just wondering if he actually is a fantail, cause i've never seen one like him before.

I agree, your fish is very cute. Cheesy

A pearlscale has a body that is  shaped like a golfball, and your fish seems to fit that profile. Its scales are similar to a pearlscale too. I posted some pictures other pearlscales so you can see.

Thanks! Well his scales have the color of pearlscale, but they're not raised up and round like i've read a pearlscale's scales are..

i've never heard of a lemon head oranda.. I will definitely have to look that species up. :3

i have discovered that no matter what he is, he does have a butterfly tail...i didn't even know that existed and i always used to say "timmy's tail looks like a butterfly from behind!"...go figure! lol.

That is an adorable fish you have there! I dunno what species he is, but I'm insanely jealous of him. (I know this forum is for fish identification... I just like looking at other people's fish ^^)

I happen to know that pearlscales can have an oranda type headgrowth, so I would be rather sure that he's a pearlscale with  that kind of wen (: Besides, his scales do look rounded (:

(By the way, I've never heard of a lemon head oranda, so... I don't think you'll find much to check about that d: )

There a literally hundreds of variations of goldfish out there so sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what kind it is exactly. Though i agree with some suggestions above that it is a pearlscale variant of some sort.

True there are hundred of variations, due to breeding and whatnot. but a lemon-head oranda? O_o

I've heard of lemon-head orandas.  The wen is light colored, yellowish.
I think it is a pearlscale with a lemon colored wen...which is very possible.

Most definitely. Actually now that i think about it, i still dont know half of the information i need for keeping my fishy alive and happy. But, shes still with me. I must be doing something right... or she loves me THAT much... LMAO

No not yet.  I might next week.  I just got the tank all set up and it needs to get cycling first.  Then I'll have to quarantine Bobbi's new friend.  I think I'll just get another Oranda.

i'll have to see if i can find any lemon head oranda's to compare her to. no matter what she is, she is the cutest fish ever. lol. im gonna have to get some newer pictures of her on here..she's almost 3 now!

Thank you! That's what we are trying to find out.. her scales are the color of pearl, but they are flat against her body, not rounded... she's a very special and undeterminable breed. lol. but we love her anyways... she is a very special fish.. not to mention, she is so intelligent.. *sigh*...lol
