it's called Pearlscale? Thank you Nossie. btw I am hoping for the ranchu to grow more mass on the head, I have it for just one year and 3 months now..do you think it will grow? i have the fish feed which encourages the head growth, but it is the sinking type. everytime I feed the fish using that, I have those white worm-type organisms swimming around due to the uneaten food lying around.

Hey! (: It's not good to have food laying around... maybe you should either try feeding less and more often, or simply try another kind of pellet? There are those that sink a bit slower in case you're noticing that the fish are having a hard time seeing the food and that's why it's left! Because it's not healthy at all for the fish to leave uneaten food until those "worm organisms" show up to deal with it. That's definitely a sign of over feeding! Just put a small, small amount of food into your tank and stop as soon as you notice that your fish aren't interested. But then about the headgrowth, it varies from fish to fish how big it grows, but if you will want it to grow more you could try a more protein rich diet for your fish! You could try feeding some frozen or freeze-dried blood worms, tubifex or krill! The fish love it, and it's only healthy for them This is very good for all of your fish, especially when they're young, and it will let them develop more beautiful bodies and be healthier (: There are lots of threads on this forum about goldfish feeding methods, you could try looking there!

yeah, it really happened to me once only though when I was giving peas to cure the swimbladder problem. The peas sank to the bottom and the fish only ate some of them and i forgot to remove the peas =.= then the "worm-bloom" happened. then the other time when i started using the sinking type pellet but the fish got used to the sinking type already. but yeah i started to religiously clean the gravel after that and the problem is not there anymore.

I was born in Romania, the part of the country which belonged to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. My first language is German. ( I could understand Spots name: Flaecki - sorry my keyboard hasn't got the "a" with 2 dots ) And when I was 16 we moved to Germany, Munich. Then I married a " Wunderbar " (= wonderful) Aussie Guy. My hubby came first to Germany, but then we decided to go back to Australia. And I've been now in Aussie for a bit more than 2 years. Humphrey and Hepsiba they want to eat more and more by the day. Every time I lift the hood to feed them they stick their heads out for half a mile and GULP, GULP, GULP... I cannot be quick enough... I also bought another Elodea, as they nibbled the Amazon Sword Plant to the stumps and the next day my two diggers had it floating... so today I re-planted it and Hepsiba started to nibble on my arm, gee this tickled... I wonder if anybody took some pics of those "worms" never seen some before... just like to know how they look like, just in case
