Where do you like to shop?
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:44:53 AM »

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would post about my experience with some online shopping. I don't buy very much on line, but being new to a larger aqaurium, and finally understanding what I'm doing, there were some products that I needed to buy. Normally I visit my LFS, but have noticed the last couple of times I bought products (cycle-for example) it was expired and I had to return it. I recently purchased a new bottle of Cycle, Prime, and freeze dried Krill from Aquariumguys.com and was really please with the time frame for receiving my items from them, the products had a long expiration date on them, and the prices on the ordered items were extremely resonable. I also like to order from Liveaquaria.com (Fosters/Smith). My first experience with live plants from them and they arrived alive, with plenty of roots and the majority of them are still alive. (Yes, a few of them didn't make it after a month or so, but I can live with that.) I also like Amazon.com, my new filter is coming from them and I have never had a problem with anything I order from them. And last but not least, Petco.com where I bought my aquarium (on sale) Smiley
All in all, my online shopping experiences with these four sites has been extremely good and I will continue from now on to shop there vs. my LFS. Where have you had good experiences at?

Other than Amazon, I've also ordered from All Pond Solution Smiley
I ordered my filter from them on a Friday and I got an e-mail like Monday, 9am in the morning saying it was dispatched, the filter was with me by 3pm Cheesy Very fast!

I shop at pets at home for everything. I spend more time ( and money) there than anywhere else. Had 2 bad experiences but in all they are very good.

I have been doing some price comparison online. I have found that petmountain.com has very reasonable prices on a lot of items. I just ordered a new Rena XP2 for my 60 gallon, some filter media for the rena, that I have on my 150 gln. Their prices are really great, compared to some. I have ordered my UV sterilizers from truaqua.com for all of my tanks (just started a 55 gln saltwater). I do some local shopping as well @ Petsmart & Petco, but shop online for the best deals, unless need it now kind of thing for my LFS. Just keep googling what you need, I have foundout is where you get your best deals, some of the sites have freeshipping which, makes it even better. Happy Shopping Smiley

I really haven't looked at any tanks on there, but let me get back from church, & I will give you a site that do have larger aquariums. I will look some more for them as well, @ other sites.

I didn't see any aquariums that size there, but they are out of stock of some of their aquariums. I looked at aquariumsdirect.com, they have some neat ones there, but pricey. I looked at a site the other day, now I can't find it, they had really really nice aquariums, with really BIG prices. I haven't looked yet, but redsea.com may have some there too. Hope that will help with an aquarium, for the size you are looking for.

Did you see the 48 inch tanks on Barlows?
They have a tank for example that is 48 x 15 x 12 inches which is around 141 litres, for 46.99  Smiley

The only problem with Barlows is that you have to collect from them in person as they don't deliver and the price is for the tank by itself without a stand/filter/lights or any of that type of thing. But it could still be worth considering as it's rather cheap! (In fact if I had the money and transport I'd go out and do a fancy goldfish set up right now!! XD)

I enjoy my special favorite shops, there's one online that ships from the southern Finland (and he always adds liquorice for me in the packages xD) and another smaller pet shop a bit farther from the center of the city, very nice places where the dudes know what they're talking about, and have really nice prices on everything Smiley

And I'll need to buy some more medications as well... I had to use the last of my Furanol 2 on a dip treatment for Cheeks, he got a swollen, red lesion on his nose Sad

I absolutely love Amazon. I have Amazon Prime, so most of my items arrive within two days.

I've also shopped online at Petsmart and Petco, though I wasn't happy with the live fish I bought from Petco. The betta I had purchased arrived with the beginnings of a fungal infection and died two days later. I did buy neon tetras at the same time as the betta (for another tank), and they're still healthy.

That sucks |:
Did you get a refund for the sick fish you got? I mean, since you could hardly look at the fish much before it arrived at your door.

To be honest, I didn't bother. From what I understand, you need to mail back the dead fish as proof before they'll give you a refund. That would have been too much of a hassle to just get back the couple of dollars that went into buying the fish. =/

And sort of disturbing... I'm not sure if I'd like to mail anything dead to anyone *_*

I like shopping off of Amazon, but I like buying from Drs. Foster and Smith even more. They seem to have every product I want for cheaper and I can get free shipping over $50. They also have great shipping too. I live about 300 miles away from their headquarters and with my free shipping that supposedly takes 7 days, I get the stuff in 1 day.

After less than 5 minutes of placing my order with them, I realized I forgot something and since I didn't want to just cancel the order, I returned one of my items (it was too big) and exchanged it for what I really wanted. The extra money was deposited into my credit card, and once again, I got my items in 1 day.

From what I understand, you have to bring your dead fish back to the store with your receipt within 7 days. Or if you bought the fish/plants online, you have to take a picture and email it to them within a certain time frame that makes up their guarantee.

sparkly: Sometimes I wish I lived in the States... *_* There are so many awesome shops with great deals on shipping around there! D8 If I'd want to order a pencil here, I'd have to pay like 7/$10 for shipping alone |:

Hi All,
My favorite places to shop are DrsFosterSmith.com, Ebay, (you can find some really good deals on there), and goldfishconnection.com, (beautiful goldfish AUCTIONS).  I'm so addicted, I now have 8 ranchus from there, sigh. Grin
Sometimes they have really good sales starting at $1. Wink
