I have 11 goldfish in a garden pond. over two days one has developed a bright green growth on the side of his body. anyone any ideas what this is and how I treat it and whether it is a danger to the other fish. This one is very poorly.

First off I would take him out of the pond and put him into a hospital tank.
Can you post pictures? I'm not sure if it is a wound or caused by a parasite or a bacterial infection or fungus of some sort. I guess I would start right away treating with salt, 1 TBS per 5 gallons of water and then both melafix and pimafix. You can also treat for a parasite too safely. I use Paracid. It is safe to use with salt and melafix and pimafix.

How kind to reply. I'll try that straight away.
He's now in hospital. The green is frondy, like a fungus my wife says.
Sorry I don't have a digital camera - it's been sent back to manufacturer for repair - so can't send a photo.

Steve, please watch your other goldfish in the pond, hope there is no infection spreading.
And hope your fish is doing better.
And please treat like Mindemae suggested.
GOOD LUCK
