Will my goldfish recover?

First I started out with a single black moor, then I decided to add a couple guppies and things were fine, I figured since everyone was getting along it would be ok to add a second goldfish. Over night the guppies began picking on the new goldfish eating away at his scales, I would say 25% are gone. As soon as I saw this the next morning I removed the guppies and gave them away. Since then my new goldfish has been spending alot of time resting in the top corner of the tank and his dorsil fin has also stayed in a downward position other than that his scales seem to be growing back slowly, he feeds regularly, and swims fine, do you guys think he has a good chance for recovery or should i put him down humanely? He's been like this for almost a week now.

I don't have any testing strips but the other goldfish is doing just fine, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the water although I will look into buying some next time I go to the pet shop. What can I do to help him heal?
