How do I tell the difference between dropsy and overeating?

A goldfish with dropsy will be very bloated and sick looking. It will probably not be very interested in food either.   

If your goldfish is very active with a good appetite and the water quality in the tank is excellent, then it's probably just a fat goldfish.
