Daily Tasks

It is essential that all mechanical equipment is functioning properly on a daily basis. Some equipment that needs to checked are the filter system, water heater, lighting, and air pump (if one is used).

Although goldfish are coldwater species, if you live in cold climates it is still advisable to have an aquarium heater in place to prevent sudden drastic changes in water temperatures, which can be fatal to fancy goldfish varieties.

hi. can somebody help me? I am new at this . I just got a goldfish and bought a fish bowl for it. how much cold water i should add? and it seems like my fish is stuck at the bottom. It never swims up.

What range should the water temperature be & is there a problem with using soft water from a water softener unit to provide for softer water?

katy...You arn't supposed to have a goldfish bowl for any fish. Goldfish need at least aa 20 gallon tank with 10 gallons for every additional fish (at least if not a larger tank). Goldfish are very messy and need lots of space. They need a good filter, a heater, etc. I would advice you to get at least a 20 gallon tank. I used to think you could have fish in fish bowls but that leads to unhappy fish and lives shorted by quite a few years.
