The lionchu goldfish is sometimes referred to as lionhead ranchu. It is a fancy type of goldfish that has been developed from crossbreeding the ranchu and lionhead goldfish varieties.
Modern day lionchu goldfish is believed to have first been developed in Thailand. This variety of goldfish was officially recognized in 2006.
