Slime Disease

Slime disease is very common in fish and the cause is usually the chilodonella, costia, or cyclochaeta parasites. Symptoms include a gray coating on the body or fins, scratching, frayed fins and shimmying. Commercial remedy of malachite green and frequent water changes can be used to treat this disease. Once the disease in the fish is eradicated, the tank should be thoroughly cleaned.
